phoebe ONONO

Logistics Officer

In 2003, Phoebe Onono played a crucial role in assisting the founders of Ujima as they navigated Nakuru to establish their first office and lodge. It was during this time that she earned the nickname Mama Fundi, loosely translating to a woman who can fix anything—a moniker that has stayed with her through the years.

Today, Phoebe is the organization’s Logistics Officer, where she spearheads logistics operations in the Kisumu office. This includes managing land surveys, item procurement, coordinating house searches for international volunteers, and supervising construction works. She also actively participates in the sourcing of insurance licenses, vendors, and administrators. Other pivotal contributions to Ujima include scouting locations, setting up field offices in Nakuru and Kisumu, and overseeing construction projects like Maili Saba and Kisindi Lodge in Nakuru and Homabay counties.

Throughout her endeavors, Phoebe acknowledges that her achieved growth and success are the outcomes of work with a dedicated and collaborative team, which has become like family.
